About this Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Building Services Manager to lead the delivery of mechanical engineering services, statutory compliance and safe systems of work across a complex and highly regulated estate. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring contractual obligations are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standards, while providing exceptional support to the client.

The position combines office-based management with on-site technical leadership. You will supervise directly employed engineers and specialist contractors, ensuring planned and reactive maintenance activities are completed in line with performance targets, safety requirements and compliance standards. A critical aspect of the role is acting as the Qualified Supervisor, ensuring all works comply with the requirements of relevant industry accreditations, including F-Gas, Gas Safe and OFTEC.

You will oversee inspection, testing and maintenance activities across a broad range of building services systems, including mechanical plant, HVAC systems, pressure systems, steam and condensate systems, compressed air, industrial gases, water systems and Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) equipment. You will also ensure robust management of risk assessments, method statements, permits to work and contractor controls in accordance with statutory obligations and industry best practice.

As the technical lead, you will review new installations, refurbishment projects and asset handover documentation to ensure systems are fully compliant and fit for operation before entering service. You will maintain oversight of CAFM records, asset data, technical documentation and lifecycle planning, ensuring accurate information supports effective maintenance delivery and long-term asset performance.

The role requires close collaboration with clients, internal stakeholders, specialist consultants, supply chain partners and external auditors. You will mentor engineers and technical personnel, supporting competence development, training requirements and continuous professional development, while promoting a strong culture of safety, compliance and operational excellence throughout the estate.
