Project Manager – Construction & Infrastructure

Location: Plymouth – Site Based, covering multiple sites across the local area

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 + Company Car/Car Allowance + Benefits

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

The Opportunity

We are working in partnership with a leading organisation responsible for the management, maintenance and improvement of a large, complex and nationally significant estate.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of a varied portfolio of construction, refurbishment and infrastructure projects across seven sites in the Plymouth area.

This is a hands-on project delivery position suited to someone from a construction, building works or Hard FM background who is comfortable managing multiple projects from initial scope through to completion and handover.

Projects will vary considerably in nature and complexity and can include refurbishments, building upgrades, infrastructure works and improvements across offices, operational buildings, specialist facilities and large industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage construction and refurbishment projects from initial scope and planning through to completion and handover.
  • Take responsibility for multiple projects across a portfolio of seven sites within the Plymouth area.
  • Develop project programmes, delivery plans, budgets and scopes of work.
  • Coordinate contractors, supply chain partners, operational teams and site stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Manage project performance against agreed programme, cost, quality and KPI requirements.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely and in accordance with relevant health, safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
  • Review RAMS, safe systems of work and other project documentation prior to and throughout delivery.
  • Monitor project risks, identifying potential issues early and implementing appropriate mitigation.
  • Maintain strong commercial oversight, including cost control, financial commitments, variations and contract risks.
  • Manage contractor and supply chain performance, ensuring appropriate standards of quality and delivery are maintained.
  • Work closely with site and operational teams to coordinate works within live, operational environments.
  • Maintain accurate project records, reporting and management information throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and provide clear updates regarding programme, risks, costs and project progress.
  • Support the resolution of operational issues and complaints associated with project delivery.
  • Ensure projects are successfully completed, closed out and handed over to the relevant operational teams.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager, Contracts Manager or Construction Manager with a strong track record of delivering building, refurbishment or infrastructure projects.

You will ideally have:

  • Demonstrable cradle-to-grave project management experience within construction, building works, infrastructure or Hard FM.
  • Experience managing multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of construction project delivery and contractor management.
  • Experience working within live or operational estates would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety requirements and safe systems of work.
  • Experience managing project costs, programmes, risks and commercial considerations.
  • Confidence managing contractors, supply chain partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to operate independently across multiple sites and take ownership of project delivery.

The Role

This is a site-based position covering seven locations across the Plymouth area. You will primarily operate from the site most convenient to your location while travelling between other local sites as projects require.

For someone looking to develop their career within a large-scale, complex estate environment, the position offers exposure to a diverse range of construction and infrastructure projects alongside strong longer-term development opportunities.
