As a Commercial Gas Engineer, you'll take responsibility for the maintenance, servicing and repair of commercial heating and gas systems across a large schools estate. You'll work independently across multiple sites while being supported by a collaborative and professional facilities team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Diagnosing faults and repairing commercial gas and heating systems.
- Servicing and inspecting commercial gas appliances.
- Performing combustion analysis and flue gas integrity testing.
- Maintaining boilers, pumps, ventilation systems and associated plant equipment.
- Identifying and replacing life-expired or defective assets.
- Undertaking minor plumbing and mechanical works where required.
- Supporting installations, upgrades, commissioning and project works.
- Conducting inspections, risk assessments and statutory compliance checks.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.
- Maintaining accurate records of work completed and reporting any issues or further requirements.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and helping to reduce waste and improve efficiency across the contract.
The role will involve travelling between multiple school sites and may occasionally require working at height and outdoors in varying weather conditions. You'll need to be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and maintaining high standards of professionalism when working in occupied environments.

Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Current Gas Safe Registration.
- Relevant commercial gas qualifications.
- Proven experience servicing, maintaining and repairing commercial and industrial boilers and gas appliances.
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of gas safety requirements and relevant legislation.
- Ability to work independently, manage your own workload and prioritise reactive and planned tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach when working with customers, colleagues and school staff.
- Commitment to health and safety and to working in accordance with company procedures and industry best practice.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing or a related discipline.
- Legionella awareness and knowledge of compliance requirements.
- Previous plumbing and general mechanical experience.
- Experience working within education, healthcare, public sector or other large estates environments.
- Experience of working across multiple sites and within occupied buildings.
- Additional relevant commercial heating, mechanical or building services qualifications.
