Role Overview
This is a newly created role, designed to enhance the speed, consistency, and commercial accuracy of project pricing across a diverse client portfolio. The Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in moving from a traditional multi-quote approach to a more data-driven pricing model, building and maintaining a robust cost database to enable faster turnaround and improved cost certainty.
Working across four business units, the role will support a growing project team and contribute to delivering high-quality, commercially sound solutions in a fast-paced and evolving sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive cost database to support rapid and reliable pricing across projects and clients
- Produce accurate cost estimates, budgets, and benchmarking data to improve speed of response to client requests
- Review and analyse subcontractor pricing, reducing reliance on multiple quotations where appropriate
- Manage project costs throughout the full lifecycle, ensuring commercial control from inception to completion
- Administer contracts in line with JCT and NEC forms, including managing variations with accuracy and rigour
- Monitor project financial performance, ensuring alignment with agreed budgets and profitability targets
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and operational teams to ensure commercially viable project delivery
- Support procurement strategies and subcontractor engagement to achieve best value outcomes
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks across projects
- Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial processes and pricing methodologies
- Provide clear and timely reporting on project financial status
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver fast, accurate, and commercially robust pricing to meet client expectations
- Maintain strong cost control and governance across multiple projects and business units
- Support the division’s growth by improving pricing efficiency and commercial insight
- Contribute to profitability through effective cost management and value engineering
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, fit-out, M&E, or facilities management environments
- Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts, including managing variations
- Experience managing costs across multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to improve pricing processes or implement cost systems/databases
- Commercially astute with strong understanding of cost drivers and value engineering
- Experience contributing to or managing P&L performance is advantageous
- Background in fast-paced or client-facing environments preferred
