Our client, a leading facilities management provider, is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, supporting a diverse portfolio of facilities management, maintenance and minor works projects across Cambridgeshire.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation where you'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered commercially, on time and within budget, while working alongside operational teams, project managers, clients and supply chain partners.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you'll provide commercial support across a wide range of reactive, planned maintenance and project works. You'll be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring robust cost control, accurate forecasting and effective contract administration throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing commercial advice and support to operational and project teams.
- Preparing cost plans, pricing work, valuations and financial forecasts.
- Managing change control, variations and commercial risk.
- Producing monthly cost reports and supporting financial performance reviews.
- Reviewing supplier applications, managing subcontractor accounts and agreeing final accounts.
- Supporting tender submissions and pricing of additional works.
- Monitoring project performance against budgets and contractual requirements.
- Building strong relationships with clients, internal stakeholders and supply chain partners.
- Supporting dispute avoidance and commercial issue resolution.
- Identifying opportunities to improve commercial processes, drive efficiencies and maximise value across contracts.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong commercial background within Facilities Management, Construction, Building Maintenance or Property Services.
You'll have:
- Experience managing the commercial delivery of maintenance, refurbishment or construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of quantity surveying principles, cost management and contract administration.
- Experience preparing valuations, cost models, forecasts and financial reporting.
- Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to identify and manage project risk.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
You'll ideally hold:
- HND, Foundation Degree or Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience).
- Experience delivering projects ranging from reactive works through to projects valued at approximately £4.5 million.
- Health & Safety awareness training.
- Membership of, or working towards membership of, a relevant professional body (RICS/CIOB or similar) would be advantageous.
Experience within highly regulated environments such as healthcare, utilities, education, transport or critical infrastructure would be beneficial but is not essential.
