Contract: Permanent, Full Time

The Opportunity

We are working in partnership with a large, complex UK organisation to recruit an experienced Financial Reporting Manager into its established finance function.

Operating at significant scale, with annual revenues in excess of £850 million, the organisation delivers essential services across a complex, highly regulated operational environment.

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this is a broad senior finance position combining financial reporting, technical accounting, treasury, financial control, governance and people leadership.

You will take responsibility for ensuring the organisation meets its statutory, regulatory and shareholder reporting requirements while helping strengthen financial controls, improve processes and develop a high-performing finance team.

This would suit a qualified accountant currently operating in-house within a large corporate environment who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with leadership and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation and delivery of statutory accounts, shareholder reporting and year-end financial reporting.
  • Ensure financial reporting and accounting treatments remain compliant with IFRS and relevant financial legislation.
  • Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, coordinating audit requirements and supporting successful year-end delivery.
  • Lead treasury activities, including rolling cash-flow forecasting and relationships with banking and central treasury stakeholders.
  • Oversee balance sheet governance and reconciliations, ensuring appropriate controls, accuracy and timely resolution of issues.
  • Manage fixed asset and lease accounting, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment and compliance with relevant IFRS standards.
  • Maintain oversight of VAT, CIS, payroll control accounts and other key financial reporting requirements.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to finance colleagues and wider business stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop the Purchase to Pay (P2P) team, improving capability, controls, efficiency and service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with Procurement, Finance, outsourced service providers and senior stakeholders to improve end-to-end financial processes.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement and stronger financial controls.
  • Support the development and implementation of financial policies, governance frameworks and accounting best practice.
  • Build strong relationships across a large and complex stakeholder environment, communicating technical financial matters clearly to non-finance colleagues.
  • Support wider finance transformation and continuous improvement initiatives as the organisation continues to grow and evolve.

About You

We are looking for an experienced finance professional who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with commercial awareness, leadership and the ability to operate within a complex corporate environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Full accounting qualification – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • At least three years' post-qualified experience.
  • Experience gained within a large, complex corporate organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and statutory financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience preparing or supporting statutory accounts and external audits.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, balance sheet management and governance.
  • Experience of treasury and cash-flow forecasting.
  • Knowledge of fixed assets and lease accounting, including IFRS requirements.
  • Previous experience leading, managing or developing a finance team.
  • Good understanding of Purchase to Pay (P2P) processes and controls.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills with the confidence to work with senior finance and operational leaders.
  • Excellent Excel capability.
  • Experience using SAP or another large ERP platform would be advantageous.
  • A track record of improving financial processes, controls, reporting or automation.

Previous experience within infrastructure, engineering, facilities management, construction, utilities, defence, manufacturing or another large operational environment could be beneficial, although strong candidates from other complex corporate sectors will also be considered.

The Package

  • £63,000 – £72,000 basic salary
  • Company car or car allowance
  • Annual bonus
  • 6% matched pension contribution
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Private medical cover for you and your partner
  • Life assurance at 2x annual salary
  • Hybrid working

The role is based in Birmingham, with an expectation of approximately one day per week in the office, alongside occasional UK travel.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong finance professional to take on a broad and influential position within a major UK organisation, gaining exposure across financial reporting, treasury, governance, P2P, technical accounting and finance transformation.
