About this Role

Role Overview

Take full ownership for the safe management and successful delivery of project works, ensuring alignment with established business processes and procedures. Work collaboratively with contract teams and clients to identify, develop, and convert pipeline opportunities into sales.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Identify and develop a short-, medium-, and long-term pipeline of project opportunities across the customer portfolio within the Business Unit.
  2. Utilise lifecycle and maintenance reporting tools to support the development of long-term capital expenditure (CapEx) plans for customers.
  3. Maximise opportunities through strong on-site presence and customer engagement.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues and management to identify project opportunities; use case studies and site tours to engage key decision-makers.
  5. Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide expert advice on the feasibility of proposed solutions, building trusted relationships.
  6. Work with developers, designers, and subcontractors to define and document project scopes. Ensure full understanding of requirements to meet business case objectives, budgets, and profit margins.
  7. Prepare and manage tender processes on behalf of clients, including detailed analysis of subcontractor submissions.
  8. Operate within current CDM regulations, typically undertaking the role of Principal Contractor.
  9. Identify, mitigate, and manage statutory and commercial risks associated with projects.
  10. Ensure Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards are fully embedded across all projects.
  11. Maintain full compliance with project management policies and procedures.
  12. Oversee all aspects of project delivery end-to-end, including estimating, business development, commercial management, subcontractor coordination, and site oversight.
  13. Work closely with stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective project execution.
  14. Ensure formal customer acceptance is achieved in accordance with agreed project plans.
  15. Agree and manage payment schedules and applications to support both project success and business performance.
  16. Ensure all project documentation is accurate, up to date, and properly maintained.
  17. Provide timely monthly reports to senior leadership in an agreed format.
  18. Manage commercial terms effectively to minimise risk exposure.


Accountabilities

  • Generate project opportunities through strong, effective relationships with customers and site teams.
  • Hold full profit and loss (P&L) responsibility.
  • Maintain overall accountability for the safe and compliant delivery of all project works while supporting business growth.


Person Specification

Education

  • Technical qualification in Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field (desirable)
  • Degree in Project Management or similar discipline (desirable)


Training & Certifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Project or Construction Management (desirable)
  • Strong written and verbal communication and numeracy skills
  • APM or equivalent certification (desirable)
  • PRINCE2 certification (desirable)
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations
  • SMSTS certification
  • NEBOSH qualification
  • CSCS Black Card
  • IOSH certification (desirable)


Experience

  • Proven project management experience within M&E, Facilities Management, construction, or critical environments
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new project opportunities
  • Experience managing full P&L responsibilities
  • Experience leading and managing teams
  • Strong background in preparing and managing bids, tenders, and proposals
