Our client, a leading construction organisation, is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join their team on an initial 3-month contract based in Bromsgrove. This role offers the opportunity to work on a range of construction projects, with potential for contract extension based on project requirements and performance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analysing project documentation, and supporting the pre-construction and commercial teams to ensure competitive and commercially viable tender submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to determine scope and pricing requirements.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
- Source and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
- Liaise with project managers, commercial teams, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
- Support bid reviews and tender adjudication meetings.
- Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within required timescales.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator within the construction sector.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and cost planning.
- Experience producing detailed estimates and tender documentation.
- Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Must be eligible to pass BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance.
Desirable
- Previous experience working on projects within defence, military, MOD, or secure environments.
- Familiarity with government-funded or highly regulated construction projects.
- Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract.
