About the role

The HVAC Maintenance Lead Technician maintains heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, including air handling units, air conditioning equipment and ductwork. The role involves preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs, alongside keeping maintenance records and equipment registers up to date.


Key responsibilities

Carry out ongoing preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC and mechanical systems.

Perform routine inspections, identify potential faults, diagnose problems and complete repairs.

Assist with the installation and modification of building equipment and systems.

Review assigned work orders and use available systems to record progress and track completion.

Support energy management by ensuring building systems operate efficiently.

Inspect existing installations for compliance with building codes and safety regulations.

Follow established procedures to resolve straightforward problems and communicate information clearly and concisely.

Contribute to the team by carrying out assigned duties using defined methods and processes.

Deliver assigned work in line with established procedures, under close supervision and guidance.

Participate in the callout rota.

Help develop colleagues’ skills through mentoring and on-the-job support.


Qualifications and experience

A high school diploma, GED or trade school diploma, together with one to two years of relevant work experience. An appropriate combination of education and experience may be considered in place of a diploma.


Skills and requirements

Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and lifting or carrying loads of 50 lb (approximately 23 kg) or more.

Ability to follow established work routines, procedures and standards.

Clear communication skills for sharing straightforward information.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Strong organisational skills and an inquisitive approach to identifying and solving problems.
