The Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a construction and facilities management organisation for an experienced Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) to support a number of live construction projects across the Oxford area.
This is an interim assignment suited to a qualified TWC who is comfortable operating across multiple sites, coordinating temporary works activities and ensuring that all temporary works are appropriately planned, designed, checked, implemented and controlled.
You will work closely with Site Managers, Project Managers, designers, subcontractors and other members of the project teams to ensure temporary works are delivered safely and in accordance with the relevant procedures and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the appointed Temporary Works Coordinator across construction projects in the Oxford area.
- Manage and maintain the Temporary Works Register for assigned projects.
- Coordinate the identification, classification and management of temporary works requirements.
- Ensure appropriate temporary works designs, design briefs, calculations and checks are completed prior to implementation.
- Coordinate Temporary Works Designers, Design Checkers, Site Managers and subcontractors.
- Ensure temporary works are designed and managed in accordance with BS 5975 and company procedures.
- Review temporary works proposals and ensure the appropriate design/check category is applied.
- Ensure permits to load, permits to proceed and permits to dismantle are appropriately controlled.
- Monitor the installation and use of temporary works on site, ensuring construction follows approved designs and methodologies.
- Carry out inspections and identify any temporary works-related risks or non-conformances.
- Liaise with project and site teams to resolve temporary works issues efficiently.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records and audit trails.
- Promote high standards of health, safety and compliance across all projects.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
The successful candidate will need:
- A recognised Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) qualification.
- A valid CSCS card.
- Previous experience acting as a Temporary Works Coordinator on live construction projects.
- Strong working knowledge of BS 5975 and temporary works procedures.
- Experience managing Temporary Works Registers and associated design/checking processes.
- Good understanding of construction site operations, sequencing and risk management.
- The confidence to work with Site Managers, Project Managers, designers and subcontractors.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to travel between construction sites across the Oxford/Oxfordshire area.
- Ability to successfully complete BPSS clearance.
- Experience working on secure, government, defence or other regulated construction environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
