About this Role

Key Purpose

Our client is seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to continue building, enhancing, and maintaining existing Power BI reports and dashboards. This role will support data-driven decision-making across the business by transforming complex data into clear, automated reporting solutions that meet operational and strategic needs.

Please note: candidates must hold active SC Clearance to be considered.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse complex datasets and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Optimise existing reporting solutions for performance and usability.
  • Promote best practice use of Power BI and support user adoption.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and deliver reporting requirements.
  • Use advanced Power Query for data transformation and preparation.
  • Identify and resolve data/reporting issues.
  • Maintain high standards of data quality and governance.
  • Work independently and as part of a wider team.


Key Accountabilities

IT Delivery

  • Build automated, self-service dashboards and reports using Power BI and related tools.
  • Translate business requirements into functional reporting specifications.
  • Work across the Microsoft BI Stack including MS SQL Server, SSRS, T-SQL, Power Query, DAX, M Language, Fabric Dataflows, Spark Notebooks, and Pipelines.
  • Deliver reporting and analytics solutions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Support data governance processes and standards.
  • Apply knowledge of relational and multidimensional database design.
  • Work with Fabric Lakehouses and medallion architecture.


Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Support project boards and lead delivery meetings/Scrums where required.
  • Engage with internal teams to ensure reporting aligns with business objectives.
  • Coordinate with delivery partners to ensure resource availability.
  • Ensure reporting standards are followed across the organisation.
  • Support training and user adoption of reporting tools.



Qualifications

  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications.


Skills

  • Strong experience with Power BI, Tableau, SAP or similar BI tools.
  • Expertise in DAX, Row-Level Security (RLS), dashboards, and data visualisation.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft BI technologies: Power Pivot, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
  • SQL querying, data modelling, warehousing, and OLAP knowledge.
  • Scripting/programming exposure such as Python or R.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing business environment.
  • Continuous improvement focus and collaborative approach.


Experience

  • 2–3+ years in BI or data-focused roles.
  • 5+ years working with Microsoft BI Stack including Power BI, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS.
  • Experience with Fabric Lakehouse architecture, Pipelines, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Proven ability to analyse large, complex datasets and generate insights.
  • Desirable: predictive or prescriptive analytics experience.
