About this Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Mechanical Project Manager to join our growing team. Due to continued business growth, this role will lead the successful delivery of mechanical projects, primarily within the commercial and retail sectors.

You will be responsible for managing projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Many projects are delivered in live operational environments, requiring careful planning and coordination to minimise disruption. Experience in fast-track asset replacement programmes within live retail or commercial environments is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage mechanical projects of varying size and complexity, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and specification.
  • Oversee projects involving HVAC, mechanical building services, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation works.
  • Apply strong mechanical engineering knowledge to resolve technical challenges and support effective decision-making.
  • Manage all phases of site operations, ensuring quality, productivity, and programme objectives are achieved.
  • Attend design and coordination meetings, providing technical input to improve buildability, lifecycle performance, and energy efficiency.
  • Carry out site surveys to support project planning and identify opportunities for plant optimisation and carbon reduction.
  • Monitor project performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure contractual and operational objectives are met.
  • Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company procedures, and site-specific requirements.
  • Manage project commercial performance, including budgets, profitability, Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), and resource planning.
  • Promote a "right first time" approach, ensuring high-quality, compliant project handovers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, construction methods, and sustainable mechanical solutions to support continuous improvement and client sustainability objectives.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing mechanical projects within commercial, retail, or similar environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical building services, HVAC systems, and energy-efficient technologies.
  • Experience delivering decarbonisation or energy improvement projects is desirable.
  • Excellent project planning, budgeting, and resource management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to manage project profitability.
  • Sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.

Qualifications

  • HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
  • CSCS Card.
  • First Aid at Work Certificate.
  • Asbestos Awareness training.
