Compliance Consultant

As Compliance Consultant you will turn complex regulation into practical, auditable control so our 70,000+ colleagues and clients stay legally protected, operationally resilient and trusted. Your work directly reduces risk, protects contracts and lets frontline teams focus on service.

Performance Objectives

• Within 90 days map all statutory, contractual and ISO obligations across assigned contracts and produce a single, live compliance register with owners and due dates.
• Close 100% of high-risk audit findings within agreed timescales and reduce repeat non-conformances by 40% in the first year through targeted coaching and process redesign.
• Deliver monthly compliance dashboards to contract directors that flag emerging legislative change, residual risk and required investment, enabling decisions two months ahead of enforcement dates.
• Lead at least four internal audits per quarter, producing evidence packs that withstand external certification and client scrutiny first time.
• Train 200+ operational managers annually so they can self-assess and evidence compliance, cutting central support demand by 25%.
• Partner with Legal and HSE to update policies within 30 days of new UK legislation, ensuring zero gaps at go-live.

Environment & Resources

You report to the Head of Governance & Compliance and work inside a dedicated centre of excellence supporting Mitie’s Facilities Management, Security, Energy and Technical divisions. You will have access to our digital GRC platform, internal legal counsel, a travel budget for site visits and a small discretionary fund for specialist training or tools. Collaboration is daily with contract directors, HSE advisors and client compliance teams across the UK.

Essential Qualifications

• Proven track record designing and embedding compliance frameworks in multi-site facilities, property or outsourcing environments.
• Hands-on experience translating UK legislation (H&S, environmental, data, security, employment) into operational controls that survive audit.
• Ability to produce board-ready risk reports and influence non-technical managers to own actions.
• NEBOSH, ISO 45001/14001 lead auditor or equivalent plus evidence of closing high-risk findings at pace.
• Strong stakeholder management across unionised, public-sector and commercial clients.
