On behalf of our Facilities Management client, we are currently recruiting three experienced Reactive Electrical Engineers to join their growing team. This role supports a major national retail contract, delivering reactive and planned electrical works across multiple sites throughout the UK.
This is a fast-paced, field-based position suited to engineers with strong fault-finding skills, a proactive approach, and experience working within reactive maintenance environments. Engineers will be expected to respond to urgent issues, support planned works, and carry out electrical maintenance and installations across a large retail estate.
Due to the nature of the contract, engineers must be comfortable working under pressure, responding to changing priorities, and travelling to various sites, sometimes at short notice.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to reactive electrical maintenance call-outs across multiple retail sites.
- Perform fault finding, diagnosis and rectification of electrical issues.
- Carry out planned LV shutdowns and electrical isolation works.
- Undertake electrical enabling works for other contractors on-site.
- Conduct testing, inspection and system installations as required.
- Perform electrical repairs and maintenance on a variety of systems.
- Ensure all works are completed in line with health & safety regulations and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate service and job documentation.
- Participate in the on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support when required.
Travel & Working Pattern
- Standard working hours are Monday – Friday.
- Sunday work is regularly available on a voluntary first-come basis.
- Engineers should expect frequent travel across the UK, covering areas from North of Birmingham to Scotland, including the Isle of Man and Scottish Isles.
- Engineers will be required to work away from home for periods ranging from:
- 1–2 nights
- Up to 1–2 weeks at a time
On-Call Rota
- Engineers will take part in a rolling Monday–Sunday on-call rota (currently 1 in 6).
Salary & Benefits
- Door-to-door hourly rate: £20.08
- Approximate base salary: £42,000
- Significant overtime available
- Top earning engineers currently achieving £80,000+ OTE
- Paid travel time (door-to-door)

- Proven experience working in a reactive electrical maintenance role.
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Comfortable with a dynamic schedule and nationwide travel.
- Willingness to work away from home when required.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
