The successful candidate will be the main campus contact for all technical service delivery, ensuring maintenance activities (planned, corrective and reactive) are completed effectively and to a high standard. They will provide strong leadership to a team delivering hard engineering services, ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations, company procedures and client standards, while supporting internal and external audits where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all site services are delivered in line with health, safety and environmental legislation, as well as client requirements.
- Act as the lead contact for all technical hard services activities, offering support across a broad range of engineering services to both the on-site team and client.
- Assess and authorise technicians for low-voltage tasks, including refresher training and onboarding of new starters.
- Lead and manage a small team of technicians, maximising the delivery of work through in-house resources.
- Oversee specialist subcontractors, ensuring safe working practices and compliance at all times.
- Champion maintenance excellence, driving continuous improvement in technical service delivery.
- Support the preparation of solutions and quotations for small technical projects.
- Identify opportunities to expand services or improve current scope.
- Manage technical service delivery across the full campus.
- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions in partnership with health and safety teams.
- Support lifecycle planning and capital investment processes alongside management teams.
- Carry out technical reviews for change requests in line with engineering standards.
- Manage asset registration, maintenance records and CMMS systems.
- Assess training needs for newly installed equipment and ensure effective handover.
- Apply value engineering principles to improve efficiency, cost-effectiveness and service standards.
Experience Required
- Strong background in engineering operations, facilities management or technical service delivery.
- Previous experience managing engineering teams.
- Experience supervising subcontractors and specialist contractors.
- Familiarity with CMMS, engineering systems and financial systems.
- Good knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Strong planning, organisational and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects to completion.
- Technical knowledge to estimate labour, materials and skills required for works.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and approachable manner.
- Ability to produce clear instructions and interpret technical drawings, schematics and switching schedules.
- Good understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling, stores and work order systems.
- Ability to deliver familiarisation training and support wider team development.
Essential Qualifications
- Completed engineering apprenticeship.
- Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Qualified electrician or mechanical engineer with relevant certification.
- Recognised Water / Legionella Management qualification.
- Health & Safety qualification with strong compliance knowledge.
- Experience with Building Management Systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- Approved Person experience for HV/LV systems.
