Balfour Beatty has reported a strong outlook for 2025, forecasting higher profits and a significant increase in its order book, driven by sustained demand across UK infrastructure and power-generation projects.
The company said its order book is expected to grow by around 20% in 2025, supported by more than £3.5 billion of new contracts secured during 2024, particularly across energy, power transmission and major infrastructure programmes. The performance comes despite continued pressure in parts of the wider UK construction market.
Balfour Beatty noted that its UK construction and support services businesses continue to perform well, while investment in energy infrastructure and long-term national projects is providing visibility and stability across its pipeline. The group also confirmed it expects underlying profit from operations in 2025 to exceed 2024 levels.
The update highlights the ongoing shift in the UK construction landscape, with infrastructure, power and energy-related projects continuing to attract investment even as commercial building activity remains more subdued.
