Mitie has secured a five-year extension to its long-running partnership with Co-op, continuing to provide security, alarm monitoring and crime and intelligence services across Co-op’s national estate. The contract was originally awarded in 2018 and the extension now takes the relationship through to 2030 supporting Co-op with fostering safer communities..
The scope covers more than 2,300 Co-op stores and more than 800 Funeralcare branches, with Mitie also stating it will continue delivering security and maintenance services across the portfolio.
Mitie says the contract includes hundreds of Security Officers equipped with body-worn cameras, supported by dedicated control centres and Mitie’s Intelligence Security Operations Centres (ISOC) in Northampton and Northern Ireland, where CCTV, alarms and body-worn camera feeds are monitored around the clock.
As part of the extension, Mitie has also introduced a new team of Elite Response Officers to support stores facing localised and persistent crime, alongside its wider intelligence-led approach and collaboration with police forces. Mitie and Co-op both referenced reductions in retail crime and abuse toward store workers as part of the partnership’s progress to date.
Congratulations to Mitie on securing another major national retail security contract extension.
