About this Role

We are currently recruiting for an Interim Estimator to join a busy pre-construction team in Yeovil on an initial 3-month contract.

This is a high-volume estimating position, supporting a significant pipeline of work and requiring someone who can hit the ground running, manage multiple tenders and produce accurate estimates at pace.

Ideally, you'll have previous experience estimating within the passive fire protection sector, including fire stopping, compartmentation or associated building fabric works. However, candidates with a strong general construction estimating background who are confident working from drawings, specifications and tender information will also be considered.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator looking for an immediate interim assignment with a busy and growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing accurate estimates and tenders across a high volume of work
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, schedules and other tender documentation
  • Undertaking detailed measurements and material/labour take-offs
  • Pricing works accurately and competitively
  • Obtaining and reviewing supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Identifying potential risks, exclusions and commercial considerations
  • Managing multiple estimates and tender deadlines simultaneously
  • Liaising with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors and other stakeholders
  • Supporting the wider pre-construction/commercial team as required
  • Maintaining accurate estimating records and documentation

About You

We are ideally looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience working as an Estimator, ideally within passive fire protection
  • Experience estimating fire stopping, compartmentation, fire doors or other passive fire works would be highly advantageous
  • Alternatively, strong estimating experience within construction, building, refurbishment or a related sector will be considered
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation
  • Strong measurement and take-off skills
  • Experience pricing labour, materials and subcontractor works
  • Excellent attention to detail and commercial awareness
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work and multiple deadlines
  • Strong Excel and general IT skills
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions quickly
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
