The Opportunity

An established, forward-thinking and growing organisation is looking to appoint an experienced and commercially minded Finance Business Partner to join its finance team on a 15-month fixed-term contract, providing maternity cover.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational and commercial teams, influencing business decisions and driving financial performance.

Operating within a fast-paced, project-led environment, you'll work directly alongside Divisional Directors, General Managers and senior stakeholders, providing meaningful financial insight, challenging performance and identifying opportunities to improve profitability.

This is a genuinely hands-on and influential position, offering the opportunity to make an immediate impact within a successful and evolving business.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver accurate monthly management accounts, financial reports and rolling forecasts.
• Work closely with operational and commercial leadership teams, providing financial guidance and supporting strategic decision-making.
• Lead divisional budgeting and forecasting activities, identifying financial risks, opportunities and key performance drivers.
• Analyse financial performance, including variances, trends, project profitability and commercial margins.
• Partner with General Managers and Divisional Directors to review performance, challenge costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
• Support the preparation and management of open-book contract budgets, ensuring commercial transparency and financial accuracy.
• Monitor working capital, cash flow and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring robust financial controls.
• Provide financial analysis and commercial input into tenders, proposals and new business opportunities.
• Identify and implement improvements to financial reporting, systems and processes.
• Translate complex financial information into clear, meaningful insights for non-financial stakeholders.

About You

We're looking for a commercially astute and proactive finance professional who can confidently operate as a trusted business partner, rather than simply reporting the numbers.

Essential Requirements:

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Minimum of 2 years' experience within a Finance Business Partner, Management Accountant or similar commercial finance position.
• Strong experience producing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to work alongside operational, commercial and senior management teams.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial performance and provide practical recommendations.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling and reporting.
• Experience working with finance/ERP systems.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence business decisions.
• A proactive, adaptable and hands-on approach, comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial environment.

Experience within warehousing, logistics, fulfilment or a similar operationally focused environment would be advantageous, although not essential.
