Our client, a leading construction and infrastructure business, is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join their team on an initial 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to support the successful delivery of complex projects during the pre-construction phase.
The Role
As Senior Design Manager, you will lead and coordinate the design process throughout pre-construction, ensuring design solutions are technically robust, commercially viable, and aligned with programme and client requirements. You will work closely with internal teams, consultants, and key stakeholders to drive projects from concept through to construction readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design management process during the pre-construction phase.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
- Manage design risk, programme, and deliverables to meet project milestones.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and client requirements.
- Facilitate design reviews and value engineering workshops.
- Work collaboratively with estimating, commercial, planning, and operational teams to develop winning project solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and support throughout bid and pre-construction activities.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Design Manager within the construction sector.
- Strong background in pre-construction design management.
- Experience managing complex, multidisciplinary construction projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and successfully pass BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance.
Desirable
- Current SC clearance is highly desirable.
- Experience working on government, defence, or other secure infrastructure projects.
