Industry stakeholders gathered last week for a bidders day ahead of the launch of the £4.5 billion Southern Construction Framework (SCF6), a new multi-lot procurement covering major construction projects across the South East, South West and London.

The framework, which is expected to run for several years once live, will support project delivery for public sector bodies, enabling access to pre-qualified suppliers for works above £1 million in value, spanning education, healthcare, civic, transport and other capital programmes. The event brought together representatives from contracting firms, professional service providers and supply chain partners to discuss the structure, lot breakdown and procurement process ahead of formal invitations to tender.

Organisers described the day as a key step in refining stakeholder engagement and ensuring broad visibility of the process before the framework formally opens. Attendees were briefed on the planned timeline, lot scope and requirements for participation as part of early market engagement.

The framework is positioned as a major pipeline for regional construction activity in 2026 and beyond, with potential for a wide range of project sizes and disciplines to be delivered through it. Public sector commissioners are expected to use the framework to accelerate delivery of planned infrastructure and built-environment programmes.
