Are you an experienced M&E Engineer seeking a rewarding position where your skills truly make a difference? Do you take pride in delivering high-quality technical services and maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance? If so, this opportunity could be perfect for you.

About the Role

As an M&E Engineer, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring the effective and timely delivery of contractual and operational requirements while maintaining strict compliance with safety standards. You will assess the competence of skilled personnel, produce accurate and detailed Risk Assessments and Method Statements, and provide technical guidance to site teams, supply chain partners, and end users.

Your technical expertise will help support project delivery, reduce corrective actions, and identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and sustainability across the estate.

This role also involves offering professional advice on Safe Systems of Work, collaborating closely with stakeholders, and ensuring that maintenance and operational procedures consistently meet or exceed compliance requirements. You’ll work alongside the Senior Management Team to support projects and advise on any deficiencies that could affect safety or performance.

Collaboration is central to this position. You’ll build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and key stakeholders to ensure seamless operational delivery. In addition, you’ll provide supervision, coaching, and assessment for Skilled Persons—ensuring they are fully trained, competent, and operate safely within all regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and compliant delivery of technical and maintenance activities.

  • Develop and maintain accurate Risk Assessments and Method Statements.

  • Provide expert advice on Safe Systems of Work to support operational delivery.

  • Oversee the competence, performance, and development of Skilled Persons.

  • Collaborate with project teams and supply chain partners to deliver high-quality outcomes.

  • Support sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives across the estate.

  • Identify and report any risks or deficiencies that could impact safety or compliance.

  • Maintain detailed records and ensure adherence to all relevant legislation and standards.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and operational practices.

  • Participate in the on-call rota and provide technical support when required.

What You’ll Bring

To excel in this role, you should be a qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with a proven track record in delivering technical services and managing Safe Systems of Work.

You will have:

  • Strong practical experience in the management and operational delivery of Safe Systems of Work.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions independently.

  • Experience supervising site operations, managing resources, and leading technical teams.

  • A solid understanding of health and safety compliance requirements.

  • The confidence to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • A proactive and collaborative approach to work, with a focus on delivering high standards.

  • A full UK driving licence and the flexibility to travel between multiple sites.

Holding Authorised Person (AP) accreditation in either Electrical or Mechanical disciplines would be an advantage, but not essential—training and support will be provided for the right candidate to gain all necessary AP certifications.
