Mechanical Manager

The role holder will report to the Senior Technical Manager and will be an integral part of the wider site-based team, holding overall responsibility for leading the mechanical service delivery across multiple disciplines. These include ventilation systems (including Local Exhaust Ventilation), fire dampers and motorised fire and smoke dampers, air conditioning, refrigeration, chiller plant, water systems, MTHW and LTHW boiler systems, generator services, and all associated mechanical equipment across the site.

Working closely with a team of dedicated Supervisors, Engineers, and Service Partners, the Mechanical Manager will ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant and associated equipment across the operational estate. This position carries full responsibility for ensuring that both the plant and the team operate in accordance with company policies, contractual obligations, and local operating procedures, ensuring a consistent and standardised approach to service delivery.

What will you deliver?

Full responsibility for all planned preventative maintenance tasks, ensuring completion within agreed Service Level Agreements, Key Performance Indicators, and in line with relevant asset standards.

Overall responsibility for all reactive and associated works, ensuring timely completion in line with Service Level Agreements, Key Performance Indicators, and applicable standards.

Overall accountability for the health and safety of Supervisors, the Engineering Team, and Service Partners, including the delivery of Toolbox Talks and relevant safety updates.

Act as the first point of contact for all operational escalations.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders.

Ensure full compliance with all statutory requirements relating to safe working practices and the safe operation of plant, equipment, and services, including all relevant Health Technical Memoranda and Quality Assurance requirements.

Provide technical advice and support to the Project Team for all assets within the Mechanical Manager’s remit.

Regularly review, advise on, and update lifecycle requirements for all assets within the Mechanical Manager’s remit.

Ensure a collaborative and coordinated approach between the Helpdesk, Supervisors, and Engineering teams.
