This is a key role within the estates and facilities team, responsible for overseeing the delivery of all reactive and programmed maintenance across designated sites. You will ensure services are delivered in line with statutory legislation, and the organisation’s commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards. Managing both your direct team and external supply partners, you will be accountable for ensuring that all key performance indicators are consistently achieved, and that service delivery meets the highest possible standards.
The Role
On a day-to-day basis, you will take ownership of ensuring all documentation relating to reactive and planned maintenance is accurate, completed promptly, and recorded against the correct assets within the CAFM system. You will oversee the maintenance of both the Establishment Specific Task Schedule (ESTS) and the Forward Additional Services Plan (FASP), ensuring compliance and effective planning across your area of responsibility.
Statutory compliance will be central to your role. You will monitor the compliance state of all sites under your management, mitigating risks associated with any overdue statutory or mandatory tasks by working closely with the clients representatives and Heads of Establishment. Alongside this, you will actively identify opportunities to support with Net Zero carbon reduction targets, initiating billable works projects and sustainability initiatives to deliver long-term value.
Flexibility will be essential, as you will also act as On-Call Services Manager when required, providing leadership and swift resolution in response to operational needs.
What You’ll Bring
To be successful, you will bring a strong technical foundation, with an ONC or equivalent qualification in Building, Civil Engineering, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or demonstrable experience in a related discipline. Continuing Professional Development will be expected, alongside technical training to maintain competence and awareness of asbestos and legionella responsibilities. Familiarity with site assets and Safe Systems of Work will be key, as will recognised qualifications such as IOSH, Emergency First Aid, and Fire Safety.
This role requires a service-focused leader who can combine technical expertise with excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills. You will need the ability to lead and motivate both direct teams and supply partners, ensuring cost-effective, safe, and compliant service delivery. With strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to performance management, you will maintain high standards of statutory compliance while delivering innovative solutions to improve efficiency and support sustainability goals.
