We are working in partnership with a leading Facilities Management provider to recruit a permanent Plumber to join their on-site team in York
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a secure and well-structured environment, supporting the delivery of critical facilities services within the Ministry of Justice estate.
Working Hours & Rota
39 hours per week
Rota-based working pattern:
Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00
Friday – Sunday: 08:00 – 16:00
1 in 3 weekends required (rota basis)
Weekend working attracts an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive plumbing maintenance, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and maintaining a safe, efficient environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine and non-routine plumbing maintenance
Repair and maintain mains water supply systems
Fault finding, diagnosis and rectification of issues
Identify life-expired equipment and recommend remedial action
Conduct inspections, water sampling and basic risk assessments
Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety and compliance standards
Candidate Requirements
Essential / Desirable Experience & Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating (NVQ Level 2 will be considered)
Full UK driving licence
Experience working in a commercial or FM environment (desirable)
Experience operating light plant and equipment
Legionella Control (L8) awareness or certification (desirable)
Due to the nature of the site, Prison Security Clearance including Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) will be required.
Support will be provided throughout the clearance process.
