We’re seeking an experienced Built Estate Manager to take ownership of maintenance and improvement across a large, multi-site estate portfolio. This is a key leadership role, ensuring all planned, reactive, and billable works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
The Role
You’ll lead internal teams and external partners to deliver consistent performance across all hard FM services. With responsibility for operational delivery, compliance, and budget management, you’ll ensure value for money and maintain a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and service excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing the delivery of reactive and programmed maintenance, plus billable works under £25k, in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Monitoring compliance, addressing overdue statutory and mandatory tasks, and maintaining accurate records and site schedules.
Building strong relationships with key stakeholders and site representatives, acting as the main point of contact for operational and technical issues.
Leading and mentoring your team, ensuring onboarding, continuous professional development, and high standards of performance.
Managing budgets and tracking financial progress against planned works, making sound commercial decisions to balance cost and quality.
Supporting sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives across the estate.
What You’ll Bring
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and commercial awareness.
Essential:
Proven background in hard services facilities management or built estate management.
Strong technical knowledge in building, civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
Relevant qualifications such as HNC/HND (or equivalent experience).
Health & Safety certifications (IOSH, SMSTS) and experience managing asbestos and legionella compliance.
Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office and CAFM systems.
Demonstrated experience managing budgets and driving operational performance.
Desirable:
Professional membership (CIOB, IEng, or similar).
NEBOSH qualification.
Advanced CAFM or data management experience.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, hands-on manager who thrives in a technically demanding environment and enjoys leading teams to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient estate operations.
