Commercial Manager

Job Summary

The Commercial Manager will play a hands-on role supporting the financial and commercial control of

live construction projects across the South West of England.

Working closely with Construction and Finance, the role will focus on cost control, financial reporting,

valuations, and cashflow management, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with

agreed financial forecasts.

This role is delivery-focused, suited to someone who enjoys being close to the detail, understands

construction environments, and is comfortable operating on site as well as in the numbers.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial and Financial Control

• Day-to-day cost control across live construction projects

• Monitoring budgets, commitments, and expenditure

• Preparing valuations, cost reports, and financial updates

• Supporting cashflow forecasting and monthly reporting

Construction & Site Support

• Working closely with site teams to track progress and costs

• Assisting with variations, change control, and reconciliations

• Regular site visits across the South West / Cornwall region

• Supporting procurement of subcontractors and suppliers

Finance & Reporting

• Supporting lender and internal financial reporting

• Assisting with phase completion information and drawdowns

• Liaising with Finance to ensure accurate and timely data

Professional Experience Requirements

• Finance-based background (e.g. Project Finance, Management Accounting, Construction

Finance)

• Experience working within or alongside construction or development environments

• Comfortable working closely with site teams while remaining finance-focused

Skills and Aptitude

• Strong financial and numerical capability

• Confident working with budgets, cashflow, and financial reporting

• Practical, hands-on mindset

• Comfortable being site-based when required

• Looking for a delivery-focused role rather than a senior leadership position
