To provide commercial and contractual support across a portfolio of live projects, assisting the Quantity Surveyor in ensuring effective cost control, value recovery, subcontract management, and financial compliance. The role supports the commercial success of projects through accurate administration, proactive cost management, and strong stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Quantity Surveyor in the commercial administration and management of multiple live projects.
Ensure all contractual value is captured, including the accurate measurement and valuation of variations and exclusion works in accordance with agreed schedules of rates.
Assist with subcontract procurement, including preparation of tender documentation and commercial evaluation.
Support the management and administration of subcontract accounts, including interim valuations and variation accounts.
Prepare documentation for valuations, procurement activities, and general commercial administration.
Liaise with procurement teams to support effective materials purchasing and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Assist in day-to-day cost control, forecasting, monitoring, and financial reporting.
Develop a thorough understanding of contract terms, specifications, and pricing frameworks to ensure compliance throughout project delivery.
Manage accrued income through timely and accurate invoicing in line with agreed timescales.
Maintain clear, logical, and auditable financial records and supporting documentation.
Safeguard the organisation’s commercial position by identifying and addressing contractual or financial risks.
Provide accurate cost advice to both internal stakeholders and clients, ensuring transparency of the project’s financial status.
Build and maintain professional working relationships with clients to support long-term business development opportunities.

Ensuring full recovery of contractual entitlements and project value.
Working across a range of commercial models and schedule-of-rate frameworks.
Maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborating closely with both commercial and operational colleagues to ensure alignment between cost control and project delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience within Social Housing refurbishment, including areas such as:
Responsive Maintenance
Voids
Gas and Cyclical Maintenance
Aids & Adaptations
Capital and Investment Works
Knowledge of the National Housing Schedule of Rates (NHF SOR) is advantageous but not essential.
Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
Good numerical and analytical capability.
Proficient in IT systems including MS Office (Excel, Word, Project).
