We are seeking an established Contract Specialist to play a critical role in ensuring contractual obligations are met throughout contract transitions and hand-back activities. The role will support internal teams and a wide range of stakeholders to deliver a controlled, compliant, and well-governed hand-back process across multiple contracts.
This position is central to coordinating exit activities, managing risk, and ensuring that all contractual, legal, and technical requirements are satisfied at the point of contract expiry or termination.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate contract hand-back and termination activities across multiple contracts
Ensure all contractual obligations are met in line with agreed terms, legislation, and best practice
Work closely with internal teams to confirm compliance with contractual, statutory, and lifecycle requirements
Develop, maintain, and manage the contract hand-back programme and associated risk register
Identify, monitor, and manage risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigations throughout the exit lifecycle
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and availability of all hand-back documentation, including:
Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals
Compliance certificates
Asset and maintenance records
Lifecycle and statutory documentation
Coordinate and track actions required to support a smooth and orderly hand-back process
Provide regular updates and reporting on contract status, risks, progress, and milestones
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to align expectations, manage interfaces, and resolve issues
Support governance, assurance, and audit activities related to contract exit and hand-back
Ensure lessons learned are captured and shared to support continuous improvement
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Proven experience in contract management, ideally including contract expiry, transition, or hand-back phases
Good understanding of contract law and contractual compliance requirements
Experience working within complex contractual frameworks, such as PPP or long-term service contracts
Strong programme or project management capability, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams
Confident and professional communicator, able to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
Ability to interpret and work with technical, legal, and contractual documentation
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and a structured approach to delivery
Proactive problem-solver with the ability to manage risk and resolve issues effectively
Security and Additional Requirements
Eligible to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance
Full UK driving licence
