Commercial Manager

This role offers the chance to take ownership of a portfolio of across Scotland and the North of the UK, driving commercial strategy and operational excellence.

What you’ll be doing:

As a senior commercial lead, you will act as the contractual subject-matter expert across a cluster of complex PFI agreements. You will steer commercial decision-making, manage risk, and unlock opportunities that directly shape contract performance and profitability.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Leading commercial and contractual functions across multiple PFI projects

Managing benchmarking, market testing, claims, and construction defect resolution

Identifying, mitigating, and reporting on commercial and contractual risk

Maximising commercial value through effective management of variations and sub-contract negotiations

Supporting operational teams with training, audits, and the sharing of best practice

Ensuring compliance with PFI output specifications and KPI/KPI performance frameworks

Preparing commercial reports, position papers, and recommendations for senior stakeholders

Building strong, collaborative relationships with clients, legal advisors, and internal departments

Leading dispute resolution and supporting contract negotiations where required

What we’re looking for:

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

Proven commercial management experience, ideally within PFI or similarly structured contract environments

Strong understanding of PFI payment mechanisms and value testing processes

A demonstrable track record of delivering commercial solutions that reduce risk and drive value

Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Confidence managing and influencing senior stakeholders

A strategic mindset with a proactive, collaborative approach
